8 Easy Ways For Students To Save Money January 31, 2008
Posted by Vedis in : Money Saving Tips , add a commentLooking for little ways that you can save money will prove to be very important during your school years and beyond. To help you out, here are 10 easy ways for students to save money:
1. Stop Buying on Impulse. Impulse shopping can be very tempting while out and about. The problem with this is that you end up blowing money on stuff you don’t really need, and sometimes on stuff you don’t really want. Before making a purchase, make sure it is truly necessary.
2. Hide the Credit Cards. Many students give into the temptation to buy now and pay later. Unfortunately, these spending habits can come back to bite you. If you find that you can’t charge responsibly, hide the credit cards until you learn a little restraint.
3. Give Up Bad Habits. Everyone has at least one bad habit. Maybe you smoke, drink Cosmos like no tomorrow, or buy expensive coffee before class. Whatever it is, cut it out. You’ll be surprised at how much money you save.
4. Stop Keeping Up with the Joneses. Just because your roommate or your pals down the hall have a seemingly endless allowance or go to school in a limousine, it doesn’t mean you do too. Try to avoid keeping up with the Joneses and stay true to your budget.
5. Find Bargains. When shopping, look for clearance items or two-for-one bargains, buy used books instead of new, and order the special instead of something off the menu. If you can find a bargain every time you go shopping, you will save more money than you ever imagined.
6. Take Hand-Me-Downs. Whether it is a used book or previously worn clothes, there is no shame in taking hand-me-downs. If somebody offers you something and you can use it, take it gratefully. When you’re making more money, you may be able to someday do the same thing for someone else who will be just as grateful.
7. Stay Home. While it can be nice to get out of the dorm every now and then, staying at home is much cheaper. Instead of going out for the night, invite a few friends over for movies, games, gossip, or snacks.
8. Go to the Library. Did you know that most libraries offer you the chance to check out DVDs, CDs, and other forms of entertainment free of charge? Well, they do, and by taking advantage of this resource, you can eliminate the money you spend on buying CDs and renting movies.
To Pay Off Your Debts Fast, Try IVAs, Remortgages, Secured Loans Or Other Debt Management Solutions January 20, 2008
Posted by Vedis in : Credit Cards , add a commentI used to think that declaring bankruptcy may be my only option when my credit card debts snowballed to $63,809 in April 2007. Fortunately after much reading online, I realized that there are so many debt solutions such as secured loans, unsecured loans, remortgages , ivas and debt consolidation loans available to help people like me to get out of debts fast.
You can take care of the situation by setting up your budget, and a debt payment plan. You can also work with your creditors to see if they can lower payments and interest rates for you. But if they don’t work, you may have to consider an IVA.
IVA (Individual Voluntary Arrangement) allows as much as 90% of your debt to be written off. You pay a single, reduced, affordable, monthly payment for a period between 3 and 5 years after which the unpaid part of the debt is written off by the creditors.
You may also be considering a debt consolidation loan to help yourself get out of debt. When you consolidate your debt, you pay off the balances on your credit cards, and other loans with the money that you receive from the new loan. After you do this, you only have one payment to make instead of several.
It may also lower the interest rate and lower your monthly payment amount by extending the term of the loan. However, if something were to happen to you and you were unable to make the payments on your home equity loan, then you could lose your home.
Another alternative is to get a debt management company to manage your debts for you.
Just tell them who you owe money to, how much you owe and how much you can afford to pay each month. They then take over and negotiate with your creditors to agree affordable monthly repayments. They make the payments on your behalf to reduce and clear your debts.
You make one single affordable payment to the debt management company each month and they pay your creditors. With debt management your debts steadily reduce until you have repaid what you owe.
There are many companies offering debt management, so make sure you look for debt management companies like MoneySolve that provide an ethical approach to debt management. That means they will only recommend debt management if this is the right solution for you.
MoneySolve also offers IVAs (Individual Voluntary Arrangements) which can help write off over 50% of your debts, in some cases as much as 90%!
Save Money On Small Or Home Office Furniture January 11, 2008
Posted by Vedis in : Shopping , add a commentSetting up a small or home office can be a very expensive undertaking – but it doesn’t have to be. Office design on a budget is possible, and you can have a functional, attractive work space without spending a bundle.
There are two rules to office design on a budget:
1. Buy only what you need.
2. Spend the bulk of your office design budget where it will do you the most good.
You have to follow these two rules scrupulously if you want to achieve an affordable, workable office design. This is because while you’re shopping for contemporary office furniture and equipment, you’ll going to be besieged with gadgets, gizmos and deluxe models that will set your heart throbbing.
Budget Home Ideas Or Decoration December 2, 2007
Posted by Vedis in : Budgeting , add a commentI am so excited to move to a new place in January. My family and buddies are baffled why hubby and I love moving so much. We seem to move away every 5 years…;P
This time we are moving to Tanjung Tualang which is situated at Batu Gajah. I think it is a very very small town though I have been there once. Tanjung Tualang is famous for seafood ! Crabs, prawns, lobsters….my mouth starts drooling now.
Hubby’s buddy will provide us a car, house and a cell phone. Well, the most important thing is that there is great prospect in palm oil plantations and rubber estates. Imagine hubby’s multiple incomes when one plantation or rubber estate is opened after another.
I can’t wait to see the house we are going to move into. I have so many home ideas for this house: setting up a home office for myself; equipping the bathrooms with bathroom vanities; furnishing the bedrooms with cozy cushions, rugs or recliners and the likes.
But of course, the expenses should be within our budget. Bear in mind that we are still loaded with $48,986 credit card debt.

5 Simple Money Tips April 21, 2007
Posted by Vedis in : Money Saving Tips , add a commentWe asked experts for their best cash control tips in areas that can easily get out of hand - and here are 5 simple money tips !
1. Pay Yourself First. Before you start spending your monthly salary, set aside money each month towards your savings, insurance and retirement plan. Also, set aside a sum equal to six months of your income for emergencies. This should be over and above your other savings.
2. Have a Budget. Budgeting can be the key to finding additional money to invest. To get a clearer picture of your expenses, keep a daily record for a couple of months and note down everything you spend. You’ll develop a better understanding of your entire financial picture and be able to identify specific areas where money seems to disappear.
3. Get Smart with Credit Cards. Although convenient and easily obtainable, a credit card can end up being a tool for financial disaster if not managed properly. It would be wise to limit the number of credit card which suits your lifestyle needs better. Alternatively, you can use debit cards which have the same convenience as credit cards - but you don’t end up with a debt.
4. Avoid the “Sale” Mentality. When you buy a $100 item on sale for $60, you don’t necessarily save $40. You spend $60.It is only good deal if you need the item in the first place.
5. Check Bills and Keep Receipts. Studies have shown that every fifth bill from supermarkets contains inaccuracies, on average. So check every bill you get, from your phone company, credit card company - you name it. Ask for proof if you don’t agree. Why pay for their mistakes ?
