Reader’s Complaint About Hong Leong Bank April 9, 2009

This comment was left by Hazel about Hong Leong Bank. Enjoy reading.

Hi, I have problems with Hong Leong too… I just maintained a minimum payment & was short of RM37 for the last payment. They charged me RM57++ for retail interest saying that is due to my under payment. FYI, I only use RM75 for fuel that month.

For another card, I was charged with RM2.42 although no retail purchased was made, and that was after I maintained the minimum payment.

So, I was under impression that Hong Leong bank is cheating their customer because of this bizarre explanation that didn’t support any of the scenario above…

Or, am I wrong?

Hi, Hazel, banks have all sorts of reasons and lame explanations when it comes to retail interest charges, late payment charges, over-limit fees or cash advance interest charges that they impose on you.

Some say $1 or $2 is a small amount and it’s okay. Well, it’s not okay! Imagine how much banks make when they charge a mere $1 or $2 into all their credit card holders’ accounts!

Hubby is on his way back from the town now. Hopefully he gets the flash drive I want, if not, I have to call the nearby computer shop for help.

Since I published my post complaining about Hong Leong Bank three weeks ago, I got some complaints about HLB left by some readers.

You see, I am not the only who complained about Hong Leong Bank. :-)

I think all banks are the same – money suckers! The difference is only the degree of greediness each bank has.

There Are Reasons To Be Angry At Credit Card Banks March 13, 2009

Angry Homer SimpsonMy buddies were kind of shocked that I was so pissed off the other day. Ya, they read my blog posts about Hong Leong Bank and credit card banks.

If you were me, I am sure you would be furious too. Imagine making payments to your credit card debt month after month for 5 months and your outstanding balance is still the same!

The late payment fees, cash advance charges, retail interest charges shouldn’t have been charged at all once you are under a debt management program.

You know, the fees charged by banks so far are enough to buy some horse supplies as gifts for kids for my nephews.

Public Bank, Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank & RHB Have Sent Out Official Letters December 20, 2008

Since I was put under the AKPK debt management programme, Public Bank, Citibank, Standard Chartered and RHB have already sent me official letters informing me the interest rates.

Public Bank, Citibank and Standard Chartered Bank stated the interest rate and outstanding balance very clearly while RHB only informed me of the interest rate.

I am still waiting for official letters from Hong Leong Bank and Maybank. These banks are still charging me 18% finance charges and late payment fees.

Hong Leong Bank Should Have Stopped Banking In Post-Dated Checks After Being Notified About The Debt Management Programme December 20, 2008

Banks are blood suckers! I am so pissed off now.

I have been under the debt management program since October 2008, all banks should have been notified about this and they should have stopped the late payment fees and finance charges.

One of the banks, Hong Leong Bank, is still holding the post-dated checks I issued to them. I could understand that they hadn’t got the notice yet in November and banked in the check. The check was returned because of insufficient funds in the account. I was fine with that.

I called and informed them to send me back the checks or destroy them in November after the first check was returned.

Just now my current account statement came. I was surprised that Hong Leong still banked in the check. Of course the check was bounced and I was charged $100 for the returned check.

I was so angry that I quickly stopped searching for Leptovox online and called Hong Leong. They said the official in charge of the check withdrawals was on leave and they would withdraw the checks for me on Monday.
